PRG Trailers race a Ford Escort RS2000 in the Ford Saloon Car Championship. The driver is Piers Grange. As well as the enjoyment of racing, we meet a lot of people at club meetings who are interested in trailers. We can let people see our trailers and also give advice. It is a good opportunity to see what people want and discuss with them the problems that they have loading, towing and securing their trailers, allowing us to design the optimum transporters.

The Ford Saloon Car Championship allows considerable modifications to the cars, i.e. modified suspension, brakes etc, but must retain the original steel bonnet, boot, doors (these can be lightened) and original axle The engine and gearbox must be of Ford origin, although not necessarily fitted in the particular model being raced, i.e. an Escort turbo engine can be fitted into a Mk I / Mk II Escort. Both engine and gearbox can be modified.
The series runs on Dunlop road legal race tyres which keeps the running costs to a reasonable level ( a set of tyres can last a whole season).
There are 5 classes divided by engine capacities.

2008 season
A good season all round after a tough start. The first round saw a frozen qualifying session at Mallory Park, crashed out on cold tyres and a slippy track. We now needed a new front end and have it ready for the next round 3 weeks later.
Good results throughout the rest of the season enabled us to win Class B for the 3rd time in 5 years.

A new addition to the PRG team saw us running an ex Thundersaloon V8 Sierra. A lot of attention was needed to make this car reliable, after 6 rounds, 4 class wins and an outright win, the reliability was much improved. Look out Classic Thunder competitors, now the reliability is sorted, we will be looking at handling and power improvements!

Next years plans are to run the Mk11 Escort in the regional BARC north west saloon cars and to do a full season in the Classic Thunder championship with the Sierra.

Provisional race dates for the 2009 season to follow soon.
